Getting Around

The majority of the tournament events are in the uptown area. The majority of local black owned clubs are outside of the uptown area, but it might be worth the trip away from the uptown area. Savvoy, Tempo, Allure Lounge and the Historic Excelsior Club are all worth a visit. The Excelsior Club has been in businesss since the 1940’s and is in the same building.

Uptown is the area within the I-277 loop. You can’t ever get too lost as long as you don’t cross I-277 or I-77.

To help your party planning, ciaacentral.com has mapped out all of the major venues on a Charlotte map. See it below.

Parking

Parking might be a little tricky, but you should be able to find parking meters for free if you are willing to walk a few blocks.  Most parking lots around the Time Warner Cable area will charge $10-15.

You can also use the LYNX light rail system to get  around.  Parking at any of the LYNX stations is free, but it costs $1.50 each way.  You can get a day pass for $4.50.  Click here for more info.
